October, 2004
Shalom dear friends of the Olim Fund,
Greetings from the shore of the Sea of Galilee!
This has been an amazing month for a number of
reasons.
First, we rejoice in the fact that after ten
months of waiting for the bueurocracy to bring it forth, we have
at long last become an official State of Israel Charity (“Amutah”).
Our official name is now: “The Olim Fund of the Land of Israel
(2004)”. However, we will, in most cases continue to use the shortened
version of simply “The Olim Fund of Israel.”
There are many advantages to our new official
status, perhaps the greatest being that we will now be able to
operate by check instead of cash which will ease the way for our
growing operations.
We had a wonderful meeting last evening whereat
we allocated a total of $9442 among
21 different olim families who were in very grave circumstances,
the details of which are summarized in the attached monthly report.
We can’t begin to thank you enough for our continuing generosity
and concern for these dear ones who are struggling to survive
here in the Land of their inheritance.
I also want to share with you the rather pointed
attack from the enemy our Board of Advisors has endured over the
past several weeks which, to our reckoning is evidence that we
must be doing something right. First, as some of you may know,
I had a health crisis beginning on Yom Kippur and ending with
an “open prostatectomy” on Nov. 10th from which I am
now recovering nicely at home. Then, Eddie Zagofsky who is the
“sparkplug” of the Fund, managed to fall off the roof of his house
and demolish his right elbow in the process. He underwent surgery
and will be several weeks in a tedious recovery. Never mind, we
look to Paul who tells us to praise God in all things and so we
joyfully do.
In this season of thanksgiving we rejoice greatly
in the expression of your love for us and our love for you which
you can be assured is prayerfully returned. Thank you so very
much for being such a blessing to those among us who are in the
greatest need.
With love in the Lord God of Israel,
Bob Fischer
