The Need:
God is calling His Jewish people home to Israel, the Land of their
everlasting inheritance. New olim (immigrants) are arriving in ever-increasing
numbers to a nation entrenched in a long-standing war against terrorism
that has greatly impacted the economy with resulting record levels
of inflation, cost of living and unemployment. While the government
provides financial assistance for new olim for several months, these
benefits soon run out, and sadly, many olim are left without work
and often with no other means of support. Thus, unable to survive
under these dire circumstances, many give up and return from whence
they came. Some, however, have no place to which to return and have
fallen into the lowest levels of survival existence.
Survival Assistance: The Olim Fund
was founded to provide short-term survival assistance to meet
emergency needs of new olim. Such assistance may include, but
is not limited to, providing for food, shelter, utilities, medical
and dental assistance, and school tuition and other related school
expenses. The Fund is specifically not intended to provide long
term support and is ideally focused on providing assistance on
a one time basis to any given family or individual.
Eligibility: Any immigrant citizen
of Israel, regardless of religious belief or affiliation, is eligible
to receive assistance from the Fund. Priority will be given to
widows and orphans and as determined by the Fund's Board of Directors,
on the basis of:
1. Relative need as compared with other
requests for assistance.
2. Length of time in the Land, with the most recent olim receiving
the highest priority.
Organization: The Olim Fund of the
Land of Israel is a joint activity of the Word of Life Association
of Roswell, Georgia (a tax free entity) and an official Israel
"Amutah" (tax free entity) comprised of Israeli citizens.
These Israeli citizens constitute the Board of Directors of the
Fund. All overhead expenses of the Fund are absorbed externally
to the Fund's operation; therefore, all donations to the Fund
are distributed, in their entirety, to olim.
Outreach: The Olim Fund has the
singular purpose of acting as a conduit for individuals who desire
to help meet the survival-level needs of olim. Representatives
of the Fund are strictly forbidden from evangelistic activities
of any sort whatsoever during any and all of their activities
on behalf of the Fund.
The Board of Directors are:
1. Tamara Silverman; Director - Letter
from Tamara Silverman Jan 2013
2. Michael Gertsman
3. Rachmiel Silverman
4. Donna Fischer: Advisory board
Note: No individual involved in the management
or administration of the Fund receives any salary or other remuneration
from the Fund.
Fund Operations:
1. Typically, the Board of Directors receives requests
for financial assistance from a number of informal fund representatives
who are located throughout Israel. These requests detail
each individual need as a basis for the Board of Directors
consideration.
2. Tax-exempt donations are sent payable to:
Word of Life Association
155 Corinth Court
Roswell, Georgia 30075
For: Olim
3. The Word of Life Association sends
all received donations once each month to the Board of Directors
in Israel.
4. The Board of Directors meets monthly
to determine how all funds received are to be distributed.
The funds are then distributed to olim as so determined by the
Board of Directors.
